Anatomy of Orthotics

The contour and shape of the plate are constructed based on an impression of the foot and modified according to the Podiatrists instructions.
The rear foot post on this orthotic changes the angular relationship of the heel to the leg. This alters the degree of frontal plane motion of the heel, which in turn impacts many other parameters.
This orthotic has a simple vinyl top-cover. Various material can be utilized. Accommodations can be added to protect painful lesions or alter function. The orthotic can be extended to the ball of the foot or the ends of the toes.Subtle changes in the angular relationships between segments of the foot and leg can have a profound impact on foot function. With an improvement in function comes the relief of many related foot disorders.
